The annual Southeastern Ontario Regional Stroke Support Groups Report has been released as well as an Infographic. The Southeast Ontario Stroke Support Groups are funded by the South East LHIN and are all professionally facilitated. Presently, groups are held in Kingston, Sydenham, Napanee, Trenton, Picton, Belleville, Perth and Brockville. Models across the region include stroke survivor, caregiver, couples, social/recreational and transition groups. Key highlights from the 2018/19 report include:100% of surveyed participants indicated they were satisfied with the navigational role played by the facilitator 95% of stroke survivors and 93% of caregivers rated the support groups as good to excellent in helping with healthy living92% of stroke survivors and 93% of caregivers rated the support groups as good to excellent in helping to manage in the community100% of stroke survivors and 86% of caregivers rated the support groups as good to excellent in contributing to a sense of wellbeing27% of caregivers reported feeling sometimes overwhelmed by their caregiving role and 40% reported having to make changes to their personal plansTo Learn More about the findings, please consult the full report.
