With the recent announcement of Cally Martin’s upcoming retirement in August, we are pleased to announce that Shelley Huffman will be stepping into the position of Regional Director, Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario, starting June 3, 2024. This will provide overlap for orientation while Shelley also covers the Rehabilitation Coordinator role. Recruitment is underway for the Rehab Coordinator position.
Shelley comes to this role with 30 years of healthcare experience working in many areas across the region in various leadership roles. Shelley started her career at Providence Care as a Registered Physiotherapist as a staff therapist and later as a Practice Leader. She also worked as a Regional Manager in the East Region for the Ontario Telemedicine Network and as a Manager with the Southeast Community Care Access Centre. Over the last decade, Shelley has been involved with the Regional Stroke Program as the Regional Stroke Rehabilitation Coordinator while also supporting the Quinte area as the District Stroke Coordinator for two years. For the past two years, Shelley was seconded as a Specialist for the Clinical Programs for Stroke Care at the Clinical Institute & Quality Programs, Ontario Health. We know that Shelley’s breadth of experience will bring significant strengths to the leadership of the Stroke Network.
Shelley possesses a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality from Queen’s University. She has formal and informal training in many aspects of leadership including certifications in quality improvement, change management and project management. This knowledge will be a great asset in her new role.
